Our Church is holding a Feed My Starving Children event this Friday and Saturday. We participated last year and it was an absolutely amazing event. The event which will take place in our fellowship hall is made up of 1000 volunteers who will package over 200,000 meals for children who would otherwise have very little or nothing at all to eat.
Last year we had over 1000 volunteers, we raised over $50K to pay for supplies and we packaged over 200,000 meals. The entire process is amazing, from the large trailers that were delivered to our church, to the 10 stations that were set up, to the detailed instructions that were provided by the facilitators...everything went off without a hitch!
300+ kids from our School and many of their families participated last year along with many church members, there families and friends as well as members from surrounding churches and communities.
This year will be no different and the excitement is building as we get closer to our 6:00pm - 8:00pm shift tomorrow night. Tracy and I will be joined by my in-laws, Patty and Chuck, our daughter Sarah and her boyfriend Jake and our neighbors Lance and Mary. Of course we will have to go out for dinner at our favorite Chinese food restaurant prior to our scheduled shift to make sure that we have the strength to hit our team packing goal.
Hopefully I will be able to take some pictures from inside the event to share, but if it is anything like last year, we starting work from the minute we arrived and didn't stop until our two hours were up...boy did those two hours go by fast! More to follow...
We want to welcome our latest blog follower Mike McFall. If you haven't already visited Mike's blog, please do so to find out his and Pat's exciting news! Welcome aboard Mike and Pat.

I have been enjoying visiting blogs and decided to start my own, even though I don't know what I am doing or if anyone will even be interested in reading what I have to say. I am a 50 year old management consultant who has been married to the the love of my life for 30 years and have two grown daughters and a son-in-law who we are very proud of. We are blessed to live in Scottsdale Arizona and are enjoying getting out and experiencing it in our RV! Thanks for stopping by our blog and please consider joining us, who knows where we will go...Kevin & Tracy.
What a wonderful project to be a part of. Hope you top last year.
ReplyDeleteSo what is your favorite Chinese restaurant? Maybe if Jim ever recovers from this surgery, we could drive up and meet you for dinner sometime. All of his doctors are in Scottsdale so we're becoming real familiar with that area.
Sandie - Joyful Chinese on Mountain View and Hayden. Family owned and operated, we have been going there for years. We would love to meet you and Jim there anytime. Jim is in our thoughts and prayers for a quick and complete recovery!
