I have been enjoying visiting blogs and decided to start my own, even though I don't know what I am doing or if anyone will even be interested in reading what I have to say. I am a 50 year old management consultant who has been married to the the love of my life for 30 years and have two grown daughters and a son-in-law who we are very proud of. We are blessed to live in Scottsdale Arizona and are enjoying getting out and experiencing it in our RV! Thanks for stopping by our blog and please consider joining us, who knows where we will go...Kevin & Tracy.

Our Apologies!

Tracy and I get out camping 6 to 8 times each year and I am always amazed at the weather that follows us.  When we arrived at McDowell Mountain Park on Friday, I saw our neighbor who was camping in what appeared to be a modified horse trailer.  It looked pretty spiffy, but I never did see a horse in there, just the women and her dog.
Where's The Horse?

We spoke with our neighbor and she said the weather had been great all week and she was really enjoying it.  I told her things were going to be changing now that we arrived and I offered her our apologies.  I told her that the good news was that we would be leaving Sunday and it was sure to be a beautiful day.

Snow In The Mountains...Burr!

You see just about every time we get away for a camping weekend, the weather turns south.  There was the trip to Show Low in October when it was 95 degrees in the Valley and snowing when we got on the other side of Payson.  That trip I didn't even pack long pants, so we had to make a trip to Walmart.

Then there was the New Years trip to Cave Creek when the weather turned to freezing and the sun decided to avoid us for three days.  And of course our latest trip of cold, rain and wind for two days and as predicted, we awoke to sunshine and birds singing this morning as we packed to head home.

Beautiful Sunday As Predicted!

Please don't misunderstand, I am not complaining, I am just happy to have the opportunity to get away, no matter the weather.  I have come to the conclusion that this is God's way of keeping us focused on working for the next fifteen or so years, knowing that if we had too much fun, it would be harder to return to reality.

So we will take what we can get, make sure to pack long pants always, no matter what the temperature is when leaving home, and get the most out of whatever weather we face. In the meantime, I am going to have to research some microwave recipes for s'mores, just in case.:)

I hope that your weekend was great, thanks for the visit and be careful out there!

  1. When we were working we loved getting away too. After the kids were grown we did that just about every weekend we could. You need to enjoy yourselves now as much as later! Look at this way ... practice, practice, practice.

  2. However, you might be just the go to guy when the summer heat sets in and somebody wants a break. Just hitch it up and find you guys camped somewhere.

  3. Same thing seems to happen to us quite often and we too are several years away from retiring. By the way, s'mores made in the microwave aren't REAL.

  4. During the many years of my career my co-workers always invited me to sit outside at lunch but I would not because if I did I might not want to return to work. I worked so much that when I had a day off I'd get sick because I wasn't used to relaxing.

For both Kathy and I after our late spouses were gone we started looking at life differently and when the company closed my plant I knew it was time to retire and to think of us. It was a long time coming so for us It's about time. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  8. At least the sun came out so you could break camp without getting wet!! I know, not exactly what you had hoped for. We drove around today following a small patch of blue sky but every time we stopped, the sun would disappear and the clouds would cover up that blue patch!! We had fun anyway.

  9. Getting away from it all is what counts. Sun or rain - doesn't matter it's fun when in an RV with a new scenery all around.

  11. I've kind of given up worrying about the weather - it's just going to do what it wants anyway!

  12. Weather always gives us something to talk about. You at least get out there and adapt to elements.

  14. I remember a few camping trip with rain and cold weather. But I loved it anyway. Took some really good pictures of rainbows and clouds in the middle of the moutains. When I couldn't get out it was a nice hot cup of something and a good book.

Maybe your right about God. :)
