When we camp for more than a few days, our gray water tanks are full and it is time to dump. Breaking camp to dump our tanks is a big hassle and something I don't look forward to. When we used to tent camp, we always dumped our waste water in the desert, but that is a big no-no in most campgrounds.
I have been keeping an eye on the price of the Thetford SmartTote Portable Waste Tanks at Camping World and the price went up $20.00 since last year, so I have been checking Craigslist for deals on used tanks, unfortunately, as soon as I found one and called, it was gone.
So this weekend, Camping World had a Mardi Gras Sale and featured the Thetford SmartTote 27 Gallon Portable Tank, which normally sells for $255.00 for $178.00 with free shipping. I couldn't pass up this offer, so I placed the order and it is set to arrive on Thursday.
So it will be nice to be able to dump as needed and never have to worry about having to break camp again. This unit can be pulled behind the Tin Can, when the dump station is more than a reasonable walk away.
So that's all of the excitement from here so far this week, hope your week is going well and thanks for the visit!
I have been enjoying visiting blogs and decided to start my own, even though I don't know what I am doing or if anyone will even be interested in reading what I have to say. I am a 50 year old management consultant who has been married to the the love of my life for 30 years and have two grown daughters and a son-in-law who we are very proud of. We are blessed to live in Scottsdale Arizona and are enjoying getting out and experiencing it in our RV! Thanks for stopping by our blog and please consider joining us, who knows where we will go...Kevin & Tracy.
And from the looks of it, when it's not full of gray water, you could just raise that handle up and use it as a scooter... or take you wife for a ride!!!
ReplyDeleteHadn't thought of that, I will have to recommend that to Tracy. :)
DeleteWe have the same SmartTote (although we still call it a Blue Boy). Works great! We've used it a couple different state parks.
ReplyDeleteA good deal on the tote and is handy to have, we have larger tanks and can last a week or more.
ReplyDeleteWe wish that our motor home tanks were larger, but I think they are pretty much standard for the year and model.
DeleteCongrats on your purchase and your excitement over being able to dump less frequently. We certainly understand as dumping often gets in our way especially this year when we forgot our "blueboy" and left it up north. Aargh!
ReplyDeleteI often see folks pulling the waste tank behind a car or small truck... And wonder if the wheels and axles can take the speed they are being pulled... I'd have a mess for sure if I tried to use one... Let us know the pitfalls if you find some...
ReplyDeleteRod - They say you can pull it at about 5 miles per hour, I will let you know if it really works.
DeleteI can't believe how the prices have gone up on all these things.
ReplyDeleteOf course they are much better made now. We found one at a swamp meet years ago and paid $5. for it it was like brand new. But it wasn't as heavy as these new ones. Hope it all works out for you.
