I have been enjoying visiting blogs and decided to start my own, even though I don't know what I am doing or if anyone will even be interested in reading what I have to say. I am a 50 year old management consultant who has been married to the the love of my life for 30 years and have two grown daughters and a son-in-law who we are very proud of. We are blessed to live in Scottsdale Arizona and are enjoying getting out and experiencing it in our RV! Thanks for stopping by our blog and please consider joining us, who knows where we will go...Kevin & Tracy.

This 'n That!

Wow what  a beautiful day here in Arizona, mid 70's and sunshine, doesn't get much better than that!

Tracy and her parents headed to San Diego yesterday for a wedding and the cats and I are on our own. So I decided to work on a few things that have been on my "To-Do" list for awhile.

I headed into work for a few hours this morning and then came home and did some laundry.  After lunch, I decided to wax a section of our motor home that wasn't looking so good, in preparation for our outing to Cave Creek Campground next weekend.

Iris is 20 years old this year and is faded from the Arizona sun and her age.  After reading many articles on RV.net, I used Red Max floor wax to bring back her shine.  It was amazing the difference using this wax, but it has to be maintained from time to time. So that was my chore today and it looks great again.  If Iris was 20 years younger, I wouldn't use this approach, but under the circumstances, she looks real good.

I purchased a CB antenna at a Love's Truck Stop a few months ago, but never installed it, so today was the day.  I had a CB sitting in the garage, so I decided to install the new antenna and CB this afternoon.  Wow, this brought back a lot of memories.  Thirty five years ago or so, I used to spend a lot of time on the CB, listening and talking with people locally and throughout the world. It was sure a lot of fun, but it kind of lost its luster when I met Tracy and we started dating.  So, I kind of went back to my childhood today when I installed that CB.  I'm not sure if there is still anyone out there to talk with on the CB, but I am looking forward to having it on board.

So that was it for today, kind of fun to work on projects and really looking forward to having Tracy home on Monday and getting out camping again next weekend.  Hope you are having a great weekend and thanks for the visit!

  1. My experience with CB is that I couldn't run it with my family in the vehicle... Folks are so nasty mouthed on the band it takes away from any positive advantages... That is why I took the Ham radios back up... Those folks use much nicer language and are better to talk to... JMHO your mileage my vary...

  2. I had a CB when I was in high school. Talked to all my friends..it was a hoot ;)

  3. Ran CB when I trucked cross country in the late 70's, necessary item for a trucker in those days.

  4. Rod's right, Now it is easier to get a Ham license and once you have the radio you can tune in all kinds of places. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  5. Truckers own channel 19 and you hear a lot of RVers on 13. When we travel with someone else we find a quiet channel for the trip and that can vary from day to day and area to area. Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  6. Belonged to a CB club back in the 70's, a bunch of commuters. We had a blast, rallies and such.
Got a newer cb few years ago that has the weather channels, very handy.
Only use it now to check out traffic thats backed up or when travelling with friends.
Nice to have a couple days just to putter around too.

  7. Goldie, our Lazy Daze Class C, is 20 years old. I like the fact that older RV's don't depreciate like the new ones :) Oh, she has a CB radio, but I've yet to use it.

  8. I've never heard of using floor wax on an RV before - interesting. As long as it does the job, I guess it's o.k.

  9. It will be interesting to read your future CB impressions, compared to experiences.

  10. I remember the day of the CB too. It seems it's been a long time ago but we still have a couple. You just never know when those might be needed and your cell doesn't have a signal.

  11. Never hear of the floor wax being used on an RV. will keep that in mind. You did lots of little projects this weekend good for you.
