Headed To The Hills!

Well it has been months since IRIS has left her spot on the side of our house, so it is time to get her up and running again before taking her in for a smog test next month. Work has finally slowed down slightly, so I was able to book the last spot at Fool Hollow Lake in Show Low for four days.

Tracy is booked up at work, so I will be flying solo for this trip.  I am looking forward to some time resting, reading and waxing IRIS.  At the recommendation of Rick from Rick & Paulette's RV Travels, I purchased a couple of bottles of 3M Marine Restorer and Wax from Amazon that I am going to use on the passenger side of the motorhome that gets the most sun.  I tested it on a small spot yesterday and it appears to work great.  I will let you know how it goes.  

I will finalize things in the morning including getting the Tin Can hooked up for the trip.  Because I havent towed in awhile, I had to go back and familiarize myself with the towing procedures again.  

They are calling for high winds in Show Low tomorrow and Thursday, so I hope I won't get blown off the hill like our last trip up there in October 2012.

Holiday Weekend in California!

We had a great weekend with my nephew and his family in California over the Labor Day weekend.

We jumped in Tracy's new Hyundai Sonata that we named "Silver Streak" and had a comfortable and fuel efficient ride over to Murrieta California, averaging 33 miles to the gallon as long as I kept the car under 80 miles an hour.:)

We had lots of visiting time, great meals, a shopping trip to Old Temecula and even got to watch Tom's son Evan's Pop Warner Football game! I would like to say that our weather in California was cooler, but the temps were in the high 90's with high humidity...Yuk!

Well as fast as the wonderful weekend started, it was time to head across the hot desert to our home.  I was happy that we didn't hit as much traffic as I thought we might and we are back to our routine today.

Happy And Safe 4th!

It has been a long time between posts, work has been keeping me on the road and very busy, so not much fun to report.

We have been enjoying time with our daughter Stephanie who came in from Portland OR last Tuesday, from 80 degree weather to 119 degrees...Ugh!

Although I haven't been posting much, I am still enjoying following all of your adventures and posting comments from time to time. 

We are headed to the California coast and the cooler weather of Ventura tomorrow morning, we can't wait!  It will be a great way to spend the 4th of July and will hopefully be much cooler.

I want to wish all of you Dads out there a wonderful Father's Day! My Dad has been gone for about three years now, but I know that he is celebrating with my Mom in Heaven.  Have a safe and enjoyable week and thanks for the visit!

A Great Weekend!

We had such a wonderful time with our daughter Stephanie and son in law Randy this weekend in Wilsonville, OR.  

We enjoyed our tour of the Domaine Drouhin Winery, which was about 45 minutes from our kid's apartment and the views were unbelievable, as you can see below. We enjoyed some wonderful Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs, and even though Tracy doesn't normally drink alcohol, she enjoyed a few sips as well.

Our surroundings in Oregon were so different from the desert we left and I couldn't stop taking pictures of the beautiful green trees and colorful plants.  

Our flights were on time and smooth and I was even able to take advantage of my US Airways Preferred Status to bring some wine home at no extra charge.

So we are back in the swing of things and it is great to be starting my week off on Tuesday rather than Monday. Thanks for the visit and I hope that your weekend was great as well!

Wilsonville, Oregon!

Well we are in beautiful Wilsonville today and the weather couldn't be better. We are here to celebrate our oldest daughter Stephanie's 24th Birthday today and of course Mother's Day tomorrow.

We are headed to a winery tour this morning and a BBQ this afternoon, so it will be a fun day for sure.

Tracy's parents were supposed to join us, but her Mom had to have an emergency appendectomy on Thursday, so we are sad that they are not with us this weekend. Please keep Pat in your prayers for a complete recovery.

We are enjoying our $50 per night room at the Quality Inn in Wilsonville. I was a little concerned with the 2.5 star rating on Hotwire, but the reviews were good and I am glad that we booked it.

Well back to the heat of AZ on Monday, but I wanted to wish all you Moms a wonderful Mother's Day and thanks for all that you do for all of us!

Amazon Gift Card!

Tracy and I were given a $100 Amazon Gift Card for Christmas from her cousin, which was both unexpected and much appreciated. 

Tracy doesn't do much on-line shopping and had never actually visited Amazon. I have spend a lot of time on Amazon and was looking forward to identifying and buying something using this gift card.  

Well we kind of forgot that we had the card until about a week ago when Tracy said that she really didn't need or want anything from Amazon, so if I had something I wanted, I should use the card.  

Well she certainly didn't have to ask me twice, I was happy to do some online shopping and it didn't take me long to find some things for our RV that I have been wanting for sometime.  

I was amazed how quickly I could spend the $100 and how few items I actually bought.  I am always happy to get free shipping, which I did with these items, since it was more than $50.  Unfortunately, part of the order requires that some work be done, like installing the Cyclone Vent and waxing our rig, but that is all part of the fun.
